dance OREMUS danse was founded in 1983 with a live music mandate,
is dedicated to the artistic legacy of Isadora Duncan
the progenitor of Modern dance, and espouses her
philosophy of art based in the spirit, the holistic
integration between body/mind/spirit and the intimate
connection between mythologies, the sacred, all
cultures and races, nature, history and the future.
Duncan's work remains the root system of all Modern
dance and is particularly relevant for its therapeutic
qualities. Choreography is based on mythology, text or
the human condition and concentrates on direct
communication, true connection, with the audience.
In 2001, it founded an early music ensemble "Les muses
réunies", on period instruments. The company has
formed extensive musical and dance collections,
donating or acting as agent in the acquisition of
materials in Canada, Germany and the USA. It has
promoted educational associations with universities
and museums in Japan, Sweden, Germany and Canada and
child based studies and touring in Canada, USA, South
America, the Orient and Europe.
Future company activities will concentrate on recording
(CD) and film work (DVD) as live music and dance
productions costs are exorbitant with audiences and
funding bases shrinking. Documentation for future
generations is now an imperative, given the
transitional nature of technologies and the world.
