An eschatological artist, P-J started his artistic
career as a painter, switching to dance, after
discovering the work of Isadora Duncan and the costume
sketches of a 1744 French court opera production.
Developing skills through working experience, research
and the artistic production process P-J has acted as
creator/performer, designer, administrator, writer,
archivist, producer, educator, and director forming
dance OREMUS danse in 1983.
Artistic collaborators have included harpsichordist
Colin Tilney, conductors Michael Feldman of New York
Collegium, Frank Nakashima of the Toronto Early Music
Centre (TEMC), Kevin Mallon of Aradia, various singers
(solo & choral), Thomas Georgi of Tafelmusik, numerous
Canadian pianists including Li Wang, and numerous
Isadora Duncan dancers (from USA & Japan), including
Hortense Kooluris, Jeanne Bresciani & The IDII
Dancers, Judy Landon, Catherine Gallant & Co., Lori
Belilove & Co.
P-J's artistic motto is "The past answers for the
future." A modernist neo-classical artist, he believes
that art is inseparable from religion. As a lyric,
tragic and sacred solo dancer P-J has performed well
over a hundred of his own choreographies in company,
group, solo, festival and charity productions since
his debut as a professional in 1977. P-J has utilized
the artistic masterpieces of Western art: music,
painting, sculpture, opera, architecture, coupled with
the Duncan technique, movement vocabulary and
philosophy to develop his own unique artistic voice.
